New UN portal gives users access to information about special international support measures (ISMs -International Support Measures) adopted by the international development community for countries included in the LDC category. ISMs are designed to assist Least Developed Countries in confronting their special development challenges and in achieving progress towards graduation from the category

Economic growth alone won’t end hunger

Recent decades have witnessed remarkable rates of growth for many developing countries. That is good news, as high growth rates of GDP per capita are a key factor in reducing food insecurity and malnutrition.

But economic growth alone is no guarantee of success in the fight against poverty, hunger and malnutrition, as the 2012 edition of The State of Food Insecurity in the World (SOFI) by José Graziano da Silva and Kanayo F. Nwanze, recently released by the Rome-based United Nations agencies, shows.
